The Bathing Pool Garden at Hidcote Manor Gardens, looking northeast, on the 12th May, 2008.

This is the photograph that has effectively finished my 35mm usage. It was taken using my father's new Canon EOS 400D with an 18-55mm lens (so I have to give him some credit for this photograph). He invited me to "test drive" it, and having planned a visit to Hidcote Manor Gardens for the late spring and early summer, I decided the gardens would be a good test.

The results were amazing, and for a while I was tempted not to give the camera back. I don't really know if I could have got the same result with the Minolta (at least not with print film, anyway), and the eventual result is my purchase of a Sony A200, a "descendent" of the Minolta.

This photograph was taken with the camera on the wall of the pond in the foreground. I have reformatted the image to 300dpi, but I've kept the 6x4 ratio, as I felt that recomposing the shot to 7x5 would spoil it. I'm not sure of the settings used as the reformatting has removed the embedded file information.

This photograph is my third Fotopic front-page feature, shown on the 2nd June 2008, and was my first digital feature.

[As water is a predominate feature in this photograph, I've decided to move it into "Water Features" from "Landscape and Architecture"]
