GWR "King" class no. 6024 "Kind Edward I" at Stratford-Upon-Avon with "The Shakespeare Express". KE1 had not a brilliant 2001, having failed badly on two tours the previous year, the result of which was spending most of the year under repair at Tysley. However, the repairs were completed early in 2002 and the locomotive was given an out-of-season "Shakespeare Express" in order to run it in. I managed to make this run behind 6024, although this required travelling to Snow Hill to board the tour as only one round trip was scheduled.
Taken with the Minolta Dynax 505si using a 28-80mm lens and Fujicolor Superia ISO 400 film (weather conditions not brilliant as I recall). Originally printed at 6x4, this has been recomposed digitally to 7x5 inches. This version has undergone heavy modifications in PSP; I've brought up the motion area, reduced noise, removed a lot of imperfections, and removed some surplus objects (litter and some heads). It isn't perfect but I could spend hours on this one and still not be satisfied with the result; I should had made a better job at the exposure stage. I still would not recommend printing this at a size greater than 5x7 inches.
